The 100th Anniversary of Naval Aviation

Roger & Jill have just returned from their Mexican cruise on
The Oosterdam (the same ship we rode on, on our Alaska cruise.)
We're getting ready to walk out the door to get to the air show
and Roger calls to tell us he's on the deck of the boat, and...
The Coronado Bay Bridge is a parking lot.

So we take the 5 South to the south end of the 75 (Palm Avenue exit)
and cruise up through the Silver Strand.

Looking across the bay from the Silver Strand to the new
Charger Stadium site that can't be.
(The refinery's not willing to shut down immediately. whaah:

Million dollar small homes on the Silver Strand:

Traffic on the bridge was moving as fast as it is in this pic:

What a spectacular view bayfront Coronadoans have every day/night:

The San Diego skyline from the Ferry Landing.
(Restaurants and touristy shops, too.)

Looking to the carrier peers.
That's a helicopter carrier, parked lengthwise
and the aircraft carrier, the USS The John Stennis:

The re-habbed buildings, and trees just right of center in this pic
is San Diego's bayside tourist trap: Seaport Village
Between Seaport Village and the USS Midway Carrier Museum, is a jetty with
The Fish Market Restaurant
(Top of the Mart is best)
and the Bob Hope Memorial Park to the Military
"Thanks for the memories", Bob.
Behind the Midway is Holland America's taller and longer "Oosterdam"
just back from her Mexican cruise.
Hey, Roger!
Happy Birthday, Jill!:

There we were, waiting for Steve & Celeste to arrive for an
early dinner at Balboa Park's The Prado Restaurant.
Traffic was a bear all the way from the valley, and all of a sudden...
BOOM! - The Stennis airwing was screaming over the park's
Visitor's Center open-air patio.
I just happened to have the camera on and focused up, trying to
snag a pic of Dave up on the second deck:
