Our simply gorgeous, Miss Cali

"I can't believe you're spending $13 on birdseed for birds you've never met!
- RoseBud:

Daddy took pics on Saturday.
He love's his geraniums growing out from the pot of lamb's ears!
Don't tell him, but that plant is going to be replanted.
The velvety lamb's ears will blossom back to life, come spring.

This is what we woke up to on Saturday, 26.February2011:

Snow dusted deck:

Daddy calls from uptown, says "gettest thou dressed, woman
-it's a winter wonderland up here"!

I get into the BRT and daddy's talking to gramma...
"We're going to take a drive up to your house.
We'll just wave."
He hangs up.
I tell him they're not going to let us up there without chains.
Gentleman, start your engine:

I think these are chollas cacti:

Cacti near the road.
We need to practice cooking more cactus paddles (the "leaves")
from El Mercado.
Our cactus apples are green, for stews, not red for desserts, jams.
Whaaah.

Antique farm equipment wheels.

Viejas mountains behind tree silhouettes from Arnold Way:

Our garden center...

and again.

The Vine Restaurant:

Montana's Restaurant:

Montana's has the feel of a rustic Montana cabin.

The deck has a creek running past it;
so nice on early sunny summer mornings.
The little building was our Habitat Hut for gourmet birdseed,
seeds for blossoms that attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
Alpine was the first Community Habitat listed with
The National Wildlife Federation Registry

This is the original Butterfly entryway.
Go into the screened in room and all kinds of butterflies greet you.
("Make sure the doors are closed behind you.")
Our Sage & Songbird Festival is just around the corner (April/May) when
shool children release thousands of butterflies in Alpine.

RuhRoh:
Cliffhanger dude got out from the car (that's the 8 East up there).

East on Alpine Boulevard:

The Viejas Indian Reservation
(their Outlet Mall and Casino in front.)

I start complaining that the ice is getting to be too much on the 8.
Daddy's determined he's going to see the snow at Gramma's house. Oy.
He finally agrees.
He exits on East Willows Road, and opts to return towards
home by way of the Reservation...going too speedy for my comfort.
At this point I'm seeing the cliffhanger dude scene:

Back in "uptown" Alpine:

Our Earth, Wind & Sea Florist:

Al Panchos Mexican Seafood:

Cobblestone Cottage Tea Shoppe
has fresh made scones to go with your tea:

Cobblestone Cottage Tea Shoppe Patio
has plenty of room for tea parties
they have hats and boas to dress up with too:

Boy, the pouring rain and hail storm on Saturday really took it's toll:
